Man Sentenced to Nine Years in Prison for Drug Trafficking

Prosecutors presented evidence proving the guilt of a 35-year-old man who possessed over 160 grams of psychotropic drugs in the form of ready-to-sell ‘spliffs’. This information was released by the Rivne Oblast Prosecutor’s Office.

Last November, law enforcement officers conducted a search at his home as part of another criminal case. However, the man refused to open the door and fled through a window. When they apprehended him, they seized 63 packets containing psychotropic substance ‘PVP’. During the search, authorities also discovered a flash drive with coordinates for drug distribution networks (‘spliffs’).

His actions were classified as illicit procurement and storage with intent to sell a particularly dangerous psychotropic substance in large quantities (part 3 of article 307 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine). Despite denying his guilt in court, the Rivne City Court, after examining all evidence, found him guilty and sentenced him to nine years imprisonment with confiscation of all property.

The drug trafficker is currently detained. The verdict has not yet entered into force, and parties can challenge it in appellate court.

A man intended to stage a terrorist attack in the center of Rivne. Law enforcement officers exposed a resident of the Zhytomyr region who, on the instructions of a representative of russia, fabricated a makeshift explosive device and was supposed to place it near one of the cafes. “In search of easy money, he almost took someone’s life. Law enforcement officers exposed a drug-dependent resident of Zhytomyr who wanted to stage a terrorist attack in the center of Rivne. The man worked for russia for $700,” journalist Darina Cheremshyna reported. The 20-year-old man fell into the enemy’s sights when he searched for “easy money” for a so-called dose in Telegram channels. They sent the offender on a business trip to Rivne. In order to fulfill the order, the young man took a backpack with the components of the explosive device in a bush on the outskirts of the city, which he then assembled himself on a rented apartment. The explosive was disguised in a saucepan and equipped with nuts to intensify the effect. “After placing the explosive device, the occupants planned to remotely activate it by calling on a mobile phone attached to the bomb. According to the materials of the case, for conspiracy, the suspect wore military uniform when traveling to the site of the planned terrorist attack,” said the spokeswoman for the SBU in the Rivne region, Anna Svyintsytska-Savchuk. Everything was supposed to happen in the central park of Rivne near one of the cafes, in the most crowded place. However, it did not develop as expected. In a matter of minutes, the criminal was detained by SBU officers. “However, the security service ensured security in the specified location and neutralized the explosive device. If the guilt of the suspect is proven in court, he faces a sentence of 7 to 12 years of imprisonment with confiscation of property,” said the head of the Department of the Rivne Regional Prosecutor’s Office, Volodymyr Pilypiv. During the search of the offender, a smartphone with evidence of working for the enemy was seized. The resident of Zhytomyr is currently in custody. The representatives of russia promised him $700 for the crime. Note that according to a similar scheme, on February 22, a resident of Rivne staged a terrorist attack in the center of Lviv. Then one police officer died on the spot. Another 25 people were injured. For this crime, the perpetrator was to receive $2,000. The woman is currently in custody, and she faces life imprisonment.
